Changelog

What changed in each release. The app tells you when a new one is out.

1.0.6 · Latest

October 28, 2026

  • Color-blind friendly colors. Turn it on in Settings › General. Working turns blue and Waiting for input orange, so the two stay easy to tell apart with red-green color blindness; accents become blue and warnings vermilion. It’s on automatically while System Settings › Accessibility › Display › “Differentiate without color” is on.

1.0.5

October 28, 2026

  • Glass. The board is now glass: the windows and desktop behind it show through, blurred, and the cards, notes column and shortcut row are slightly see-through too. On macOS 26 it uses Liquid Glass; on earlier macOS, the system blur. Turn on System Settings › Accessibility › Display › “Reduce transparency” to keep it opaque as before.
  • New note window. It now looks like the Settings and Links windows — a title with a × to close, a bordered text box, and “Cancel” and “Save”. On the glass board the note window is see-through as well, and the board steps back while it’s open.
  • The field at the top of the notes column is gone. Open a new note with Space on the board (or the notes icon at the top right) — the bottom of the notes column says so.
  • Before installing a new version, Philote now checks its Apple signature and notarization. Philote’s data folder (~/.philote) and its license and history files are now readable by you only.

1.0.4

October 24, 2026

  • Notes. A notes column now sits on the right of the board. Type in the field at the top and press Enter — notes stack up one line each, newest first. Click a line to open it, read it in full and edit it. Empty a note and go back to delete it. Turn the column on or off with “Notes” in the header.
  • New note window. Press Space on the board, or click the notes icon at the top right, and a new note window opens in the middle of the board. Enter saves, Shift+Enter adds a line, Esc closes (what you typed is kept). Enter pressed while a Korean character is still being composed now saves the last character too.
  • Notes stay on this Mac and are never sent anywhere (~/.philote/notes.json).
  • Pinning the board now lives in the menu bar. The pin shows in the header only while it’s on — click it to unpin.

1.0.2

October 23, 2026

  • With the app in French, the terms, privacy and refund pages inside the app now open in French (a translation).
  • Sign-in code emails now arrive in the app’s language.

1.0.1

October 23, 2026

  • Japanese, German and French. The app now speaks five languages: English, Korean, Japanese, German and French.
  • Shortcut row. A row of your everyday apps now sits at the bottom of the board. Like the Dock, it opens an app or switches to it. Turn it on or off in Settings.
  • Straight to the Codex chat. Clicking a Codex card now opens that conversation (VS Code extension or ChatGPT app). If a chat started in VS Code but your last question was asked in the ChatGPT app, it goes to the app.
  • Cursor. Claude Code sessions running inside Cursor are recognized; clicking one opens the folder in Cursor.
  • Codex chats that didn’t show up, and older Codex chats you resumed, now appear on the board; finished codex exec runs leave it right away.
  • A tab you haven’t asked anything yet is no longer shown as “Waiting for input”.
  • If two apps share a name, Philote goes to the one that’s running.
  • Anonymous usage stats (how often each feature is used) are sent once a day. Your work, files and prompts are never sent, and you can turn it off in Settings › Data.
  • Notices now have “Close” and “Don’t show again”.
  • Removed the draft marks from the in-app terms and corrected the list of what’s sent under Settings › Details.
